Shannon Putter
Owner, Creative Director
Shannon Putter is Exhale Dance Studio’s Founder and Director. She began dancing at the early age of three and continued to train and perform throughout her teen and young adult years. Having fulfilled her dream of becoming a teacher and choreographer, Shannon is now focused on her true calling: cultivating the most encouraging, safe, and inspirational dance studio in Winnipeg.
With over 20 years’ teaching experience, Shannon began growing her community dance classes in Winnipeg in 2010, and Exhale Dance Studio’s current location opened in 2014. In 2012, Exhale Dance Studio became the first Canadian member of More Than Just Great Dancing®, an affiliation program that specializes in high-level leadership, training, and curricula for dance studios. Shannon is also the proud recipient of the More Than Just Great Dancing® Growth Award (2014) and Winnipeg’s Woman Entrepreneur of the Year (2015).
Establishing Exhale Dance Studio has allowed Shannon to embrace her passion for teaching dance, create a place of meaningful work for her staff members, and have a positive impact on the lives of her students. Through her work at Exhale Dance Studio, she has also been able to expand upon another goal: growing outreach programs to serve the greater community around the studio.
Though dance is truly a part of everything in Shannon’s life, her greatest personal accomplishment will always be her family—her amazing husband and two wonderful children.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
At Exhale, we focus on cultivating people, not just dancers. We believe that the performing arts are meant to teach young people values of time management, teamwork, and dedication. We believe that the youth should understand the importance of giving back to their community and encourage our dancers to be active in this way. Most importantly, we believe that each child is different. We value kindness, community, and caring for our students and our families above all else.
